2025 Pender County Summer Fun Days
Grow with 4-H
4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States.
It teaches young people life skills through hands-on, inquiry-based, fun activities.
- Enroll youth in 4HOnline to register
- Must have a minimum of 5 participants in order for event to be held.
- Events are non-refundable unless the program or trip is canceled. Spots are limited.
- Parents/caregivers may be required to provide transportation to and from program areas.
- Registration and payment are due by May 23, 2025.

Nature Explorers
Go fishing, kayaking, take a nature hike, make nature-themed crafts and trail mix. Start the summer with an outdoor experience!
Date: May 29, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Miller’s Pond Park, Rocky Point
Parents/caregivers will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their youth at the park.

Cost: $10 per child. Bring a bag lunch and water bottle.
Snorin’ Safari Zoo Camp
Camp out at the Asheboro Zoo! Experience the North Carolina Zoo after hours and behind the scenes to create your own animal adventures. This is an overnight experience.
Date: June 3 – 4, 2025
Time: Depart at 9 a.m. on June 3 and return at 5 p.m. on June 4.
Location: Drop off and pick up at the Agriculture Extension Building, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw.
Ages: 9-13
Cost: $70 per child. All meals and snacks are included. Please limit personal items to those necessary to stay the night.
Moores Creek Battlefield Camp Day
Come explore the battlefield with a park ranger, learn about historical equipment, see toys and games played by children in the 1700s, and enjoy a nature hike.
Date: June 13, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Cost: FREE – bring bag lunch and water.
Parents will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their child from Moore’s Creek Battlefield.
4-H Chopped Challenge
We will learn to cook several different recipes with a professional chef and your child will showcase their talent during our “Chopped Challenge” competition.
Date: June 27 and 28, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Agriculture Extension Auditorium, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Ages: 11-13
Cost: $40 for both days
STEM Days
Learn about coding, kitchen chemistry, and electrical science. Do hands-on STEM projects and meet professionals in the science field.
Date: July 9th and 10th, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Agriculture Extension Auditorium, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Ages: 8-13
Cost: $30 per child for both days. Bring bag lunch and water bottle.
Eco Adventure
We will visit the Education Center in Surf City. Learn all about our marine ecosystem, sharks, vertebrates, see live creatures on the beach, hold reptiles and amphibians, visit the museum ocean touch tank and much more!
Date: July 15, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Leave from/return to the Agriculture Extension Auditorium, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Ages: 5-13
Cost: $20 per child. Bring bag lunch and water bottle.
4-H Web of Life
Come learn all about our local wildlife and ways that we can help protect our environment. Play games, make nature crafts, and meet people in this field.
Date: June 4, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Pender County Cooperative Extension Auditorium, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Cost: $10 per child. Bring bag lunch and water bottle.
Old River Farm 4-H Tour
Come take a tour of a local dairy and learn how farmers make a living in Pender County.
Date: June 6th, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Drop off and pick up from the Agriculture Extension Building, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Ages: 5-7
Cost: $10 per child. Bring bag lunch and bottle of water.
Farm Art
Create a work of farm art with the Pender County Arts Council.
Date: June 9, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Location: Drop child off at the old Dee’s Drug Store in downtown Burgaw
Ages: 5-13
Cost: $20 per child
Bees, Worms & Soil
Join the Pender County Beekeepers Association to learn about bee keeping and see a real live hive!
Tour the Extension Master Gardener™ volunteers’ demonstration gardens and see what’s in their garden with the Pender County Master Gardener™ volunteers.

Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

All About Blueberries
Take a trip to the NC State Horticulture Crops Research Station in Castle Hayne, where blueberries are developed and enjoyed.

Cooking Around the World
Come cook dishes from Africa and Korea, learn about their culture, play games from these countries, and decorate your own apron.

Cost: $30 for both days
White Lake Water Park
Swimming, tubing on the Lazy River, water slides, and more!
Date: August 15th, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Ages: 8-18
Location: Leave at 10 a.m. from the Agriculture Extension Building, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw, and return at 3 p.m.
Cost: $15 per youth. Bring bag lunch and water bottle. Send extra $ for snacks if desired.
Blast Off With 4-H
Come explore the universe at the Morehead Planetarium Science Center in Chapel Hill with 4-H. Youth will enjoy hands-on science displays and watch a planetarium show in a full dome theatre.
Date: August 6th, 2025
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Drop off and pick up at the Pender County Agriculture Building, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw
Ages: 8-12
Cost: $20 per child. Bring bag lunch and bottled water.
Fitness with House of Gains
Come learn all about weightlifting and fitness at the House of Gains.
