A second application of pre-emergent herbicide for grassy weeds is needed by early June to provide season long control.
Fertilize bermudagrass, zoysia, and St. Augustine lawns at a rate of 1/2 lb. nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft., equal to 3 lbs. of 16-4-8 per 1,000 sq. ft. (p. 12).
Chinch bugs are a serious pest of St. Augustine turf. Scout for chinch bugs in early June and treat if found.
Lawns need 1” of water each week. If it does not rain, you will need to water by applying 1/3” every 3 days in sandy soils.
