- A second application of pre-emergent herbicide for grassy weeds is needed by early June to provide season long control.
- Fertilize bermudagrass, zoysia, and St. Augustine lawns at a rate of 1/2 lb. nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft., equal to 3 lbs. of 16-4-8 per 1,000 sq. ft. (p. 12).
- Chinch bugs are a serious pest of St. Augustine turf. Scout for chinch bugs in early June and treat if found.
- Lawns need 1” of water each week. If it does not rain, you will need to water by applying 1/3” every 3 days in sandy soils.
