Today is a happy and sad day in the N.C. Cooperative Extension Center in Pender County. After nearly 28 years our administrative Assistant – Reatha Hoffman – will be retiring January 31, 2022. I speak for myself when I say I am really going to miss Reatha. She is one of those people that you meet in life that always (well most of the time!!) has a smile on her face and after 28 years she never meets a stranger in our office. I think my Agents and staff feel the same way.

While it will be hard to see her go on to her next career, she seems to think that her next step will be a lot of fun. Her new job title after retiring from Extension??? Grandma. It has a nice ring to it and I’m sure she will do a great job filling those shoes.

While I don’t want to push her out the door yet, the hiring process at NCSU is not always a fast one. So as we start the processes of celebrating with Reatha we are also getting the process of filling her shoes started.

If you know anyone that is interested in joining the Pender County Extension team, please share this link with them and ask them to apply. We have a small group but there is never a day that goes by that doesn’t bring something new through our doors.

Oh… and if you want to stop by and celebrate with us… January 28, 2022 in the Agriculture Building. All day!!
