It’s time to start preparing for the 2021 Coastal Plains Chicken Show! This year, youth may choose to show a broiler or a Black Star Sex-Link hen. Each bird is $5 and a minimum of 2 birds of the same breed must be ordered. 

Any youth ages 5-18 as of January 1, 2021 may participate in this project. Youth MUST be an enrolled 4-H member or member of an FFA program to participate. All first time participants must attend an orientation, date TBD.

Youth will choose a broiler or Black Star hen, and raise them under the guidance of their guardians, 4-H Club Leaders, and Extension Agents. Youth will show their chicken at the Coastal Plains Chicken Show, and they will also complete a Project Record Book about their chicken. Youth are eligible to receive prizes as long as they turn in their Project Record Book.

• January 13th: Registration and money due to Liz
• Beginning of February: projected chick pickup for Black Star hens
• Beginning of March: projected chick pickup for Broilers
• April 16th: Project Record Books due
• April 27th: Coastal Plains Chicken Show @ Lenoir Livestock Arena
